I hope Manny Pacquiao Does Not Commit The Same Mistake Again...

And you thought Manny Pacquiao has learned his lessons when he attempted and failed to enter the dirty world of politics during the past election? I had thought so too. But with recent murmurs that have been coming up at the newspapers and tabloids, it is clear that the POUND-FOR-POUND fighter hasn't. Talks are circulating that the boxing champ has secured himself a slot under the administration ticket. Which, honestly, gave me the chill. I refuse to imagine how those supposedly "political friends" of Manny are going to take advantage of his very vulnerable perception about "politics."

I'm sure no one has forgotten that Manny has lost in favor of the now Congresswoman Darlene Antonio-Custodio in his first attempt of coveting a Congressional seat. Manny is without a doubt the nation's much-loved boxing champ hero, but he was no match to Custodio's political power and dominance. That, I believe, should have been concrete testimonial to Manny that any of his political ambition would be better shelved than pursued.

Manny must have forgotten what happened. After the first failure, the boxing champ was supposedly furious because he didn't get what was due for him - the promised refund of political money he spentwasted on his campaign elections. The refund was supposedly to be given by a political figure/s purportedly very close to Manny. There was even the story of Manny withdrawing all his money from several banks in General Santos because he was very upset. Reportedly, the banks have to secure money from Manila branches because the fund was not enough. Yes, that's how rich Manny is.

I wonder what miracle had boomed that made Manny very motivated now to run for a political seat. Or, is it miracle itself? I doubt so. Some political personas from the opposition and even others from the administration have advised Manny against his political plans, urging the boxing champ to retreat before it's too late. Ordinary Filipinos have expressed their disgust over this news, saying Manny would be better off to remain as the boxing champ but not a political figure. Some political analysts also gave their opinions about it, one of which pointing Manny as too afraid to lose his supposedly new-found "trusted politicalpowerful friends" and he is enjoying this friendship that he really wants to plunge into the dirty world in order to continue this camaraderie.

Personally, I really don't know what has gotten into Manny Pacquiao, but I do really hope he does not commit the biggest mistake once again by attempting to enter the politics. He should have learned the lesson three years ago. It's still a good 1 year and 8 months before the 2010 election. He still has enough time to back out.

Yad's First Time To Fly! Part II

I've gone off-topic on that one LOL!.

Let's go back to Yad.

When we we're first boarding for our flight departure to Manila, he showed to me like he was used to riding a plane. Like, he would climb up the stairs up the plane as if he knows the way. He would look for our seat numbers like he's been in the plane for a number of times already. And, he would even point my seatbelt and tell me to wear it. I was a bit surprised, because it was not what I expected from him.

I thought, he's gonna be the shy boy not to anticipate and just wait for me to instruct him what to do on those things But on a second thought, Yad has always acted like the confident little man whenever he's with me. When we were at NAIA terminal 3, he acted the same. When he wants to go and use the restroom, he would not ask me to accompany him. He'd instead go and look for it himself. When he wants to eat, he'd only ask money from me and go to the snack bars and buy his food. The same thing when it was finally our time to board the plane going back to Legazpi airport, he went up without waiting for me and proceeded like he was a frequent flyer.

However, there's one thing that he can't hide the truth of him being still a kid. The true Yad surfaced when he has all this kind of curiosity on many things inside the plane. Yad, fyi, is a kid you'll want to prepare with tons of right information because he's always gonna bombard you with questions, sometimes with out-of-this-world ones, and follow-up questions. So, as expected, he asked me about all these stuffs he saw in the plane, and wondered loudly why did our voices become very tiny when we we're up there? :P I almost went a little fed up with his unending questions, but you know, being, the mommy of this little man, I'm used to it.

So, there! That was my "little" experience with this first travel together with my little man.

Yad's First Time To Fly! Part I

Yad posing before the Cebu Pacific aircraft model on the day we were supposed to depart at 11:55 AM but instead flew back home at around 3:55 PM, and landed at Legazpi Airport at almost 5:00PM. Yes, the flight was delayed for four hours. Actually, it was not only our flight but all other Cebu Pacific flights, including those that came from abroad, like Hongkong (supposedly arriving at around 6:00 AM at NAIA terminal 3 but came at 10:00 AM instead). Imagine the hassle it brought to us passengers. Yad and I missed our classes on that day due to that four-hour long delay, but that's nothing a hassle compared to other passengers.

This post, however, is not a blabber for that technical glitch, resulted from Cebu Pacific's improper organization, or according to the pilot of our flight, NAIA terminal 3's lack of proper management, lack of terminal/airport employees (as in, whatever!). Instead, I am posting these photos of Yad because it was his first ever to ride a plane. (By the way, NAIA terminal 3 opened business only on the 1st of August, so it was also our first there. The place is spectacular, one that you can compare to other international airports, I believe). I know he was so excited at the thought of flying, but he was good at hiding it.

Which led me thinking, Yad is really a man to contain his excitement and to never show his true feelings. I mean, showing enthusiasm is, most of the time, a girlie thing, right girls? Boys seldom allow us to know it, but we know deep inside they are more excited than us when something triggers their enthusiasm or interest. For them, it's like a kind of ego thing to act excited like girls. They would keep it to themselves, or act just "manly." And, that's the same reason why I arrived to the idea that Yad is no doubt a man himself. Mommy talking proud of his baby here. Wink!

No Classes! Yipee!

Feast of St. Dominic De Guzman. Meaning, no school at Aquinas University, or maybe other Dominican schools/colleges/universities as well. As a student, I always feel good during no-classes days. It means, I'll have the day all by myself, and I gotta do some things, which I can never do when I'm full with schedule.

I actually no other important plans to day, so I am gonna post the picture of Burn's gift for me. She gave it to me when Yad and I went to Manila to celebrate with his son, Baby Zyv's birthday. On the day that we went to Divisoria, she gave me this Old Navy flip flops:

St. Dominic Week Celebration

I didn't know we we're celebrating the St. Dominic Week today at school. I've not attended my classes since tuesday last week because of the 2-day road strike and because of my trip to Manila from Saturday to Tuesday. I went to school yesterday, and that was the only time that I've learned of this celebration. There are many activities still in line for the rest of the week and that includes Acquaintance Party for tonight. I'm not too keen on attending on this one, but I might drop by to see how school parties are being held in this generation. It makes me feel nostalgic about the days when my college buddies were always around and on the go to attend parties and getaways. Sigh! I am just feeling excited now because I knew tomorrow is a no-classes day and I hope this afternoon too. Everyone needs to prepare for the night party, after all, and they need lots of time for that because I heard it is gonna be a costume party. Hooray for all Aquinians!

Mommy Burns and Baby Zyv, Here We Come!

Yad and I are leaving tomorrow for Manila. We're gonna celebrate Baby Zyv's 1st birthday. This is the first time that Yad will be coming with me in Manila, so I'm uber excited. I'm sure he is too. We'll be there till Tuesday, so we'll have more bonding times for ourselves. My college friends will be there too, so I knew it's gonna be like a get-together party for us. How I just wish everybody will attend, but we knew that's impossible. Some are working abroad, while others are too busy with their commitments. It's a good thing that I am a plain college student now; otherwise, it might be difficult for me to take the time off just for this occasion.

On another story, I will be expecting DCTV people in the morning before we leave for our flight to install my internet and cable connection. This has been long-overdue, so I am personally attending to the installation to make sure everything will be alright before we fly to Manila. Finally, after many months of looking forward to getting this cable internet connection done, I was able to have my personal computer fixed (reformatted and upgraded) so everything is ready now for the installation.

Tidbit News About My Activities:

Back blogging after a day of being offline.
First major examinations up in three days. Hope I pass all subjects. Haven't paid my tuition yet.
My bestfriend announced she's going home anytime soon.
Had booked our two-way flights to Manila and Legazpi. Yad will be coming with me to visit Burns' baby boy, the adorable ZYV! We're excited!
Currently having not-too happy times with hubby.
Earlier, met up with Ate Cla to catch up on each other's lives. She bought me lunch at Graceland food chain

Thank You Guys For The Beautiful Shoebox Tangerine Doll Flats!

Yesterday, me and my former officemates went out for a little bonding and strolling at the mall. Ryan needed to get his shop on, so we accompanied him at the men's section, luggage and bags section, and at the toiletries section. We also went to the shop (I can't remember its name) at the Pacific Mall where it sells Havaianas flip-flops, Shoebox, and a lot other brands. I saw this lovely pair of doll flats, tangerine with a brown lining. Being one with an eye for fashionable yet comfortable feminine thingies, I automatically grabbed the pair of tangerine flats and tried it on.

Oh my! It fits exactly and comfortably my size!

A minute after trying it on, I knew I just need to have it because it's just looks so beautiful. It's made of faux snake skin, so the classy yet girly factor was there. The color is lovely too. But much as I hate going home without it, I am currently unemployed and paying for my own school tuition fees. I knew too that I can't simply afford to be the compulsive buyer that I am always guilty of at this time, so I was deciding if I can still fit the bill into my budget for this semester without feeling guilty at all. But how, if I may ask, if I don't have steady source of income to feed my fashion needs? Boohoohoo for me! But, always the lighthearted as I am, I refused to feel disheartened at the sad thought. So, to lighten my mood? I suddenly joked if Ryan, a dear friend who is transferring to Manila office (so I sure am gonna miss him), would buy the pair for me? I wasn't expecting that they'd think of it seriously; however, Talie apparently was when she suggested, why don't we all share for the payment? I got suddenly moved because I knew she wasn't in any way kidding when she said it.

I also knew she meant it b'coz she always do it when she says she would pay for your share or she would buy you a treat at a restaurant, coffee shop, or wherever we may happen to be idling at. She made Ryan and Yona pledge their share. And although they we're making fun out of it, they were actually serious when they said I can have the pair of Shoebox shoes as their gift for me. Aawww, I was so moved by the gestures! Thanks so much, guys! You were all aware how our former employer treated me, so that is probably why you were all exerting your effort to comfort me. I knew, buying the shoes for me was one of your ways to let me feel you were all here for me especially on the days when I was so down. I just am not certain if I showed to you how I deeply feel the gratitude towards you, guys; but, deep in my heart, I am really thankful and deeply appreciative. Thank you so much for always making me feel alright, guys! Hugs and kisses for you!

Stop Being Lazy!

I'm sleepy and want to sleep like the cat above yet I need to be up and finish my tasks before the day ends... Good thing, I got here in PC screen a YM window that an officemate, currently based at our Manila branch, sent just this morning:

"Never be lazy in your work, but serve the Lord enthusiastically. Romans 12:11 (NLT)"

Sure helps to remind me it is a nonsense and a sin being lazy.

Aileen Alcomendas makes sure she sends us our daily dose of spiritual vitamins just before work starts. I need bible verses like this one and Ai has always been so forward and patient as taking a little of her time everyday just so we are able to read passages even without visiting our bibles. It helps me in a lot other ways, so thank you Ai for your little yet significant doing. :-)

Brian Gorrell Buzz! A Taint To The Already Tainted Filipino Image?

What is this all about this Brian Gorrell thing? Stories, all frightening and degrading , told about how this Australian gay guy has gone with various affairs involving some of the most prominent people in Manila have been circulating not only here in the online world but on papers and televisions as well. I still haven't dug that blog this Aussie guy purportedly owns and in which he uses to account piece by piece the apparently degrading things that his Filipino lover has done to him, so I don't really know who these people are.

There were Filipino celebrities whom this guy mentioned in the blog. And, that, apparently is one of the reasons why this recent buzz has caused many people to react guiltily over this guy's claims. I haven't had time to research and that's why this post is a bit late given that this scandal has circulated for a few days already, but I sure am going to find out when I have more time.
