What Shall We Expect From Obama's Runaway Victory?

Weeks before the US Elections, I already felt that Barack Obama will emerge triumphant from this considerably sensational and historical event in America. Some people I argued with, including my father and other friends, did not agree with me whenever I'd say that it will be Obama who's going to replace Pres. George W. Bush. It's true that this African-American Senator of Illinois has managed to get massive support from different communities, but I believed that somehow the Americans wanted change - a change they believe only Obama will give. McCain would have been the same instrument for this much-sought after change, especially as far as the current mess Pres. Bush will be leaving behind is concerned; but it is clear than water that the Americans have spoken. At the turnout of the election, Obama and his supporters rejoiced from the runaway victory. But for the people to rejoice this early, I would think that is not the right thing to do. We have yet to see what America will be like under Obama administration.

And why I am posting this one? And kinda late at that?

Because, as they say, when America sneezes, everyone, or rather, the world catches cold. Because we, Filipinos, will have to be aware what this will impact us - I don't know if good or bad (I pray though it will be the first), but it will. Don't forget that Obama does not like America outsourcing jobs because he wants to give job to every American individual. So, what does that mean to us? Philippines has always been one of the favorite nations, which the Westerners outsource jobs from - and I admit I am one of the individuals who have benefited from that - but if US President-Elect Barack Hussein Obama withdrew this outsourcing job relationship, where does that leave us? But then again, this is just one of the thoughts that have been running in my mind ever since Obama declared his platforms particularly concerning on that issue. I am never, and will never be, in a position to foresee what will happen under Obama's helm, but this is one fear that have been boiling inside me although I don't intend to stay longer in this outsourcing industry. One of my mentors in AUL quipped that if may that happen, it will undergo process and thus may take quite a long time. But what to those individuals who planned on staying in this industry forever?

On the other hand, my fear, or your fear, is unfounded and maybe what happens next is the contrast of that. So, I guess the right thing to do at this time is to wait and see.

And not that Obama will read this post, but I still want to congratulate this great man for giving this new adventure for America to face with!

I hope Manny Pacquiao Does Not Commit The Same Mistake Again...

And you thought Manny Pacquiao has learned his lessons when he attempted and failed to enter the dirty world of politics during the past election? I had thought so too. But with recent murmurs that have been coming up at the newspapers and tabloids, it is clear that the POUND-FOR-POUND fighter hasn't. Talks are circulating that the boxing champ has secured himself a slot under the administration ticket. Which, honestly, gave me the chill. I refuse to imagine how those supposedly "political friends" of Manny are going to take advantage of his very vulnerable perception about "politics."

I'm sure no one has forgotten that Manny has lost in favor of the now Congresswoman Darlene Antonio-Custodio in his first attempt of coveting a Congressional seat. Manny is without a doubt the nation's much-loved boxing champ hero, but he was no match to Custodio's political power and dominance. That, I believe, should have been concrete testimonial to Manny that any of his political ambition would be better shelved than pursued.

Manny must have forgotten what happened. After the first failure, the boxing champ was supposedly furious because he didn't get what was due for him - the promised refund of political money he spentwasted on his campaign elections. The refund was supposedly to be given by a political figure/s purportedly very close to Manny. There was even the story of Manny withdrawing all his money from several banks in General Santos because he was very upset. Reportedly, the banks have to secure money from Manila branches because the fund was not enough. Yes, that's how rich Manny is.

I wonder what miracle had boomed that made Manny very motivated now to run for a political seat. Or, is it miracle itself? I doubt so. Some political personas from the opposition and even others from the administration have advised Manny against his political plans, urging the boxing champ to retreat before it's too late. Ordinary Filipinos have expressed their disgust over this news, saying Manny would be better off to remain as the boxing champ but not a political figure. Some political analysts also gave their opinions about it, one of which pointing Manny as too afraid to lose his supposedly new-found "trusted politicalpowerful friends" and he is enjoying this friendship that he really wants to plunge into the dirty world in order to continue this camaraderie.

Personally, I really don't know what has gotten into Manny Pacquiao, but I do really hope he does not commit the biggest mistake once again by attempting to enter the politics. He should have learned the lesson three years ago. It's still a good 1 year and 8 months before the 2010 election. He still has enough time to back out.

Lakshmi The Rattler

When I visited the site of Lakshmi the Rattler, I can’t help but get envious that she had a nice layout, a far nicer site layout than mine. It’s so obvious that the owner is a woman. With the white background sprinkled with butterfly and wild flowerette images, plus the summery and pastel colors used on the rest of the details, there’s no denying it. And just judging at these details, it suggests that she is a happy, bubbly, and contented woman at that!

Another thing that got into my mind is that we had something in common here, white background. But while my blog white layout is yet to meet some re-arranging needs, hers was a very neat and organized one. I remember a comment made on my blog by a certain blogger, he said that only few bloggers can make a neat and organized blog site. But well, now? I am pretty sure that he won’t say the same thing if he found out how much nicer Lakshmi the Rattler blog is. I love the manner in which she arranged the details because it made the site so easy to browse, easy to skim, and so refreshing to the eyes. Just the thought of it makes me wanna go to the beach, strip off my clothes, and then plunge into the warm water...lol! (It’s summer season here in the Philippines, so I thought her blog design suits very much our vacation and relaxed mood here)

I knew lots of women blogger, and in fact most of them are my friends. But it’s either that their site was laid in black, gothic background or softer yet with darker colors, but never in white. So, chancing upon this blog of Lakshmi is a welcoming relief and I’m quite sure that I will come back for more updates of this site.

Metrobank Server Failure

How about not having any access to any Metrobank atms, or even other atms, for more than 24 hours already? What if it is the only bank that you have an account for your money savings and nothin else? What will happen if your infant is running out of milk supply and you don't have credit cards with you? What if you got emergency financial obligations but you cannot withdraw from the funds of your account because the server nationwide is down? What will you do? Borrow money? But the thing is, you can't always rely on other people's help if they too are experiencing dilemma with you.

See, Metrobank, Philippines? This is the first time that we encountered your system offline for more than 24 hours. It is a hassle that can do affect many people's financial dilemma. You can't even take the simple protocol of providing advisory to your loyal customers. This is one thing that could've stopped us from fearing wondering what really happened behind this fiasco.

Did you, guys, have your main server or system attacked by suspicious/illegal transactions? Or did that system failed because of a huge net virus and abruptly corrupted your database and files? Whatever it is, inform us that we can't do transactions with you because your server is down! It is one little thing that you owe us and could help us big in these difficult times...

So, because this unwanted failure can occur anytime in the future, I am thinking now of using other bank services, which can allow us to shop or spend when we ran out of cash and no ATM machines dispense money. Well, credit cards are the perfect prospect for now, right? So, okay, I'm going to check what banks offer the best credit card services.
